




ECOLO Japan's Team visited European Greens Congress in Geneva

The Chairperson of ECOLO Japan (Japan Greens) and the staffs visited
Brussels in Belgium and
Switzerland in Geneva in October 2006, in order to participate in 2nd
European Greens Congress.
We could exchange with a lot of Green members in Europe, particularly
among young Greens.
In Geneva
The 2nd Congress for European Green Parties was held in Geneva, on 13th
and 14th October 2006.
We participants team from ECOLO Japan were always welcomed and
could meet many Greens from
different countries in Europe.
This time more than 600 participants gathered at the meeting rooms
of Geneva University (Uni Dufour) in the city center
EGP(European Green Parties) spokesperson Ulrike Lunacek (Austrian Greens) greeted the audience and
celebrated the recent successes of national elections of Greens
in Austria, Switzerland and Sweden.

Major speeches by famous Green speakers such as Dominique Voynet (French Greens), Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio
(Italian Minister of Environment), Dany Cohn-Bendit (Green spokesperson of MEP) made the audience excited at
the plenary sessions during the Congress.
Like as usual Greens meetings, women speakers and chairpersons led each
session and meeting.

The main works of the Congress was to adopt the common agenda: "A Green Future for Europe"
and also the common Green guideline: "European Green Charter".
On the 2nd day, lots of amendments were discussed and voted by
228 delegates from European Greens.
At the final stage, both documents were adopted.
Dr.Shuji Imamoto, the Chairperson of ECOLO Japan was welcomed at the fringe meeting of Global Greens
at the 1st day, greeted and made a brief introduction on current
Japan situation of Green politics.
Around the meeting place, there were lots of exhibition by Green parties
and groups.
Our team (Japan Young Green) members joined the photo action of FYEG(European Young Greens) as follows:
The reception party at the end of the Congress excited the participants
with music band stage.
Green delegates also went onto the stage and enjoyed singing songs a capella.
After the Congress, we ECOLO Japan Team enjoyed sightseeing around the city Geneva.
