    HISTORY of Our Group

In 2003, Founder Dr.Shuji Imamoto called young ecologists (ecological activists) for founding
regular studying group in Tokyo that concerns Green politics and policies.
There about 15 young people got together and they started organizing the group.
In the beginning of 2005, the group changed its names to ECOLO JAPAN, which aims clearly
to found a Green Party of Japan, focusing on policy(law)-making and campaigning. as a first
step. In the year 2005-2006, ECOLO provided many seminars and workshops to invite young
Green specialists and activists and let them join the policy-making process.

    PHILOSOPHY of Our Group

Collaboration between NGOs and politicians (or parties) will not come generally into effect in
Japan. Moreover, partnership between lawmakers and ordinary citizens (or specialists, scholars,
activists etc.) will not be carried out there.

On the other hand, most lobbying groups in Japan wish to action politically so that their own
benefit in their industry or trade can be guaranteed or increased, from their short-term vision.

As a result, there are few groups who would like to lobby politically from long-term perspective,
     precisely for
ecological, sustainable development of our society and economy.
Regarding such backgrounds, we established a lobbying group “ECOLO JAPAN” in order to
realize sustainable policies. To realize them, we make effort to ensure founding Green Party of
     Japan in the coming years
(2007-2009).
